There are over 7,000 food processing and manufacturing companies in Egypt, generating sales of over $22.2 billion. Egypt imported almost $4 billion worth of food ingredients in 2017, according to the USDA. Moreover, the sector has grown with a compound annual growth rate of 22.5 percent between 2012 and 2017.
The food processing and manufacturing sectors are forecast to register a 5% growth rate in Egyptian pound terms during 2017-2021.
